We stripped and rebuilt the roof valley. A roof valley is a gutter-like valley that runs between two sloped roof sections. When it rains, it takes a lot of water between roofs, so if there is an issue, this can be where it starts. It is where two sloping sections of roof meet, they need a way for water to escape.
We used an 18-mill sterling board torch, which then had a felt code 5, and we used lead throughout the valley fountain. Lead is expensive, but it is used in roof construction, due to its superb malleability and low melting point. It can be moulded to any shape, is highly resistant to corrosion, and is non-combustible, making it ideal for all roofing applications.
The roof was battened on both sides, using breathable, felt, and treated batten.
